Panther Man - old
Afternoon Panther fans,
‘Panther’ is back!
Welcome to what is to be an exciting 2013. We have been putting in a lot of work over the pre-season on field and are hopeful to have a full list available to choose from for round One.
We kicked off the reserve & senior practice matches with an away game on Saturday against Kyabram, this is an annual practice match and it allows us to blow away a few cobwebs and start to set the structures for the year. There were a few players missing and a few who are a little underdone but all in all the games were played in good spirit and were a great success – apparently Harry has been working
on his goal kicking. Both of our sides enjoyed the game and the Saturday night was spent together in Echuca/Moama.
This week we play our only ‘home’ practice match, we host Bundoora in what should be a great opportunity for our guys as it’s time to get a little more fair dinkum. Bundoora are a powerhouse in the NFL and they too will be up for a strong hit out as the season proper is not far away. Get along to the game and you can see the likes of ex AFL players Gary Moorcroft, Cameron Cloke & Ricky Dyson ply their trade, the Bulls also have Brayden Shaw (Tony’s son) as their captain and ex EDFL players Matty Dennis & Aaron Lerm are part of their list. It presents our guys with some challenges & I’m sure this excites Steve Paxman and his team.
If anyone in the seniors kicks 5 on the Bundoora full back they get to take home a slab of VB 4.9’s!!! So whoever lines up at Full forward all our fella’s look hard for him. Don’t worry Campo, ‘Panther’ will pay for the slab.
We are hoping to see as many people in attendance as possible and as such have a slogan for the day – ‘One for Practice’. As it’s our only home practice game we are hoping for a home ground crowd @ Panther Park – all amenities will be available.
The day starts at 09.45am with the U18’s followed by the reserves @ noon and the seniors @ 2pm, look forward to as many of you as possible making an appearance.
‘Panther’ would like to take this opportunity to introduce some of the off field festivities for 2013
The ‘Panther Pulse Coterie’ is again up and going, we’d love to see everyone rejoin. I have attached the form for the coming season, everyone who would like to maintain the number they had in 2012 (Anthony Lee should!) can respond by return to ‘Pantherman’, I will in turn pass on the in
fo to Lachlan, Shark &/or Jenny Tydell.
There are only 200 tickets, it’s a good initiative and a bit of fun. There is always room for new members so contact Lachlan 0425747564, Shark, 0425747568, Jenny 0417102074 or Clocka 0411855895. If paying by transfer please let these guys know, put your surname in the remit column and the # if you keep it the same. You can scan the ticket back as another means if you choose – Dinga any chance to join this year, any chance………..
There is to be a first at Panther Park in 2013 – there will be a ‘Pascoe Vale Punters Club’. Shark will run this Club, more details to follow very soon. Rick Buda is a possibility to be involved, anything
he is involved in ‘Panther’ is part of and can I suggest we all jump on. Anyone who chucks $2 bucks in a machine at the casino while his mate hits the toilets @ 3am and returns 97 grand is definitely a good luck charm.
There is a flyer attached advertising the Clubs need for an ‘extra ordinary general meeting’ for members on Tuesday 26 March. If all members could be aware of the attached and make an effort to be in attendance the Sports Club executive would be appreciative.
We are continuing to work off field as hard as we are on field so jump in and enjoy it.
If there is anyone who has some time to support our new president Clocka this year in a voluntary role please make yourself known. There is a lot of work going into running local football clubs now days and all support is welcome. Clocka’s number is above or you can contact Brian Campisi on 0418327542
We’re glad footy’s back and 2013 is up for grabs, we all start even – ‘A Grade, were in it
& we believe we can win it’ – jump on board, the silence is deafening.
A bit of Pascoe Vale banter from the man in the big chair
