Players from the Essendon DSFC under 16’s squad have been hard at work in the last few weeks under the guidance of first year 16’s coach, Geoff Maddern and his dedicated helpers.
Numbers have varied due to other sports and commitments, but all the boys are putting in the hard yards in preparation for a big year in 2012. We’ve seen a few new faces in our bottom age boys and it’s great to see them putting in such a lot of hard work.
Sessions have involved Thursday night circuit training at the Fighting Lions gym on Keilor rd which have been very vigorous. The boys have responded really well to what has been a tough session and are already showing some positive effects of the sessions with fitness levels very high. Thanks to Pazza and the crew at Fighting Lyons for all their support.
On Sunday mornings the boys had been gathering at the bottom of Afton street for a 4k run and some ball work. It’s pleasing to note that, each week the boys run a better time. Trainings have been moved to a Monday night at 6pm at the club due to U15 EDFL rep training on Sunday mornings.
Two Monday night sessions are left with the last being held on 19th December and players are invited to attend an Xmas break up barbeque planned to follow the final training session.
