Official Match Report

Sandown Lions were horrendous during this game, behavior wise.
There was so much descent from 9 out of 11 players towards me from the start of the game. With no assistance, I asked both captains to help me out during the game. But from the first whistle, Sandown Lions players starting complaining and kept wanting to argue with me about my every decision. They would not want to play football or let me focus on the game. Coping a goal on the 12th minute set them even more for aggressiveness and losing their heads. I continued to try and work with the Captain who constantly insulted me back saying there is two teams on the park and that he wouldn't care if he was booked. Due to a few injuries where physios were called on the pitch, 3 minutes of extra time was played for the first half. On the 47th minute, player number 20 (Duol Kuei) was booked for a reckless challenge that was very late. Being one of the players who have been making comments about my call, and insulting me directly and indirectly with his comments and remarks every time he was within my proximity of hearing, he didn't take the caution too well. As he jogged back towards his goal, with intention he stepped on the leg of the injured player of Springvale he just recklessly fouled. Therefore I booked him for the second time and he was sent off.
Going into halftime, I was hoping they would re-group and come out to just play soccer. Their behavior only escalated for the worse. The insulting remarks and comments continued on, as much of the first half if not more. On the 73 minute, player number 10 of Sandown (Yangdow Kong), brought a player of Springvale down in the penalty box after Springvale player dribbled past his for which I blew my whistle for a penalty kick. He was subsequently booked for the offence inside the penalty box. This incident brought in the captain of Sandown (no 30 Bosco Abbasmoi), who would not stop insulting me and constantly reminding me that there were two teams on the field. Bosco was booked for descent and unsporting behavior, to which for the booking he accused me of cheating right on my face by saying which one of the Springvale players was my brother that I am being on sided. I booked him for the second time as such remarks did not sit well with me, and no matter how much I tried to help him work with me, he wouldn't shut his mouth and he was sent off as a result on the 73rd minute. Sandown finished off the game with 9 players with a few more booking for reckless challenges and descent.
some of their remarks towards me really upset me. They kept saying to me directly or indirectly, as to why they end of with an Afghani referee every time they play Springvale. That surely this was not a coincidence.
After the game, while being escorted on to the changing room, some of the players would call after me to go in and join Springvale City's changing room for their team song.
With being so afraid for my safety, as every person player/ spectator or any other person with some sort affiliation with Sandown, who would pass my changing room, they would either call me something or made some sort of comment towards me. I was that scared that I asked the Springvale City marshals to hang around in the change room while I do the book work, to which I couldn't fully complete either as I just wanted to get out of there before something happened to me. I even asked the marshals to escort to me car as soon as I was paid in the changing room, after the book work was some what completed. I could not change from my uniform let alone shower or anything. With the help of the marshals I got to me car, and even coped come abuse and insulting comments in the car park before I drove away to get home safely tonight.
As a senior referee that I am this year, I have never experienced such a horrible bunch of guys. I have played the game since I was a little boy and have been refereeing since 2018, No such thing has ever happened to me. And if I am being honest, it was a very scary moment and something that can definitely make you question yourself referee again, is it even worth it if something happens to me?
Now I understand why a lot of referee especially young ones that leave.
It was a really tough game and a tough night over all.
